Best described by industry insiders as a “relentless redhead with a free spirit and a determined will,” Hallie Jordan is no stranger to theatre and film. This quirky girl next door with a quick wit and a stunning smile comparable to Julia Roberts, Hallie is also an accomplished actress and producer, founding SMALL RED STAR PRODUCTIONS and has produced several television pilots, independent films, and comedy sketches that have featured her on Funny or Die. With multiple movies set to release in 2015 and a huge motion picture role to be announced next, there’s no end in sight for this multi-faceted actress & producer.
Born in the heart of New York City, she found her love of the theatre as a child, while learning the ins and outs of the industry from her RKO Films Publicist grandfather who had worked with legendary actresses such as Judy Garland and Debbie Reynolds. Always the “new girl” at school while her mother traveled around the country for work, she found her expression in acting in school plays and local theatre. She continued exploring various artistic methods through college while studying abroad in Salzburg Austria, Nepal, The University of Paris- Sorbonne, and The Academia Del Arte in Italy. As a graduate of The Comedy Studies Conservatory at The Second City in Chicago, Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theatre in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Redlands she utilizes her vast knowledge to explore the psychology, sociology, philosophy and business of acting.
While balancing her career as a professionally trained actress in theatre, comedy improv and music, she is actively developing pilots for television and films to continue developing her sense of creative independence with her production company, Small Red Star Productions along with her work in Philanthropy and Women Mentorship.
Have you ever meet someone that makes you feel like you’ve known them for a long time, that they’re so easy to talk to? Well that’s what I got when I sat down and chatted with the super talented Producer/Actress Hallie Jordan for our in depth interview. If you need a pick me up on how to grab the reins of life and run with it, this feature is for you. Hallie has this incredible energy that inspires you to give it all you’ve got, laugh more, never give up and ALWAYS stay true to who you are.
Hallie continues to work a balancing act between work and play and has found strength in her voice along the way. She is incredibly independent and holds her head high in all areas of her life. I could not believe what a generous heart she has for those closest to her and even strangers too (such a beautiful soul). She makes it very easy to stand behind her and show support, she has my vote on what ever adventure she decides to journey on. Hallie lives, breathes and eats passion for breakfast. BB411~ Did you always know you wanted to be in theatre and film?
HJ~ Believe it or not, when I was really little, I wanted to be a painter. I think I was a better painter when I was 6 or 7 than I am now. My skills have not progressed. Then one day my mom took me to see Cat’s on Broadway, and that was it.
BB411~ You wear many hats, how did your career come to be?
HJ~ I never thought I would be a producer. I grew up in musical theater and since I was about 7, that’s what I wanted to do. I have trained to perform almost my entire life, but when I turned 22, I was shelved by a major agency. I refused to let anything stand in my way so I started creating my own work to ensure that I was seen and could continue to create. It helped me discover new creative outlets and while acting and performing will always come first, I like having the creative freedom to create new things.
BB411~ Tell us about Small Red Star Productions?
HJ~ I started SRSP around the time I was shelved by the agency mentioned earlier. By establishing my own production company, I was able to create my own work and projects to help propel my career forward. I was not going to ever take “no” for an answer, and SRSP helped make sure that I didn’t have a choice in backing out. The name comes from my mom. It’s her maiden name “Klein”, my brother’s last name “roth”, and my last name “Stern” (Jordan is actually my middle name) translated from German to English. My mother is a small red star…
BB411~ What projects do you have coming up in 2015?
HJ~ So much is happening this year that my head is spinning. I’m doing two movies out of the country, two movies in the country, re-developing a musical that I had wanted to produce, and am in pre-production for a project that I am spearheading called “Miss Glennside.” I’m not allowed to announce names quite yet for the others because it’s still very hush hush, but I can tell you that Miss Glennside is going to be hilarious and I have some pretty phenomenal people involved- In all of the projects. BB411~ Is there an Actor/Actress that you haven’t worked with that you’d love to?
HJ~ I love Amy Adams and Emma Stone.
BB411~ If you weren’t in the career you are today and could be anything, what would you be?
HJ~ I’d probably want to research social psychology, what makes people based on what’s around them sociology. Would you still be you if you weren’t growing up in the same environment, would you be the same person? Would you still like the same ice-cream if it wasn’t influenced that your mom liked vanilla ice-cream?
BB411~ Who did you look up to growing up or inspire to be? 
HJ~ My mother’s best friend daughter, Marni Rothman. Marni was my biggest role model growing up. She also has big curly red hair, always inspired me to keep pushing forward, and even wrote my college recommendations for me when she worked for HBO. She now continues to producer for network television and is one of the strongest women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
BB411~ How did your parents influence the person you are today?
HJ~ This is a tough one. My father actually passed away when I was a kid and I grew up with a single mother who had to move all the time to keep up with work. I did not find out that I came from an industry family until after I graduated from college. My mother, while we fight all the time, inspires me daily (while simultaneously making me crazy). I did have to grow up very fast because of my circumstances, but I was always encouraged to find my artistic voice and to not give up. The biggest influence anyone in my family gave to me was to remind me to never give up, even when I wanted to.
BB411~ You moved around a lot as a child with your mom travelling for work. What was the hardest part of that and what did you love about it?
HJ~ It’s definitely hard moving around so much because you don’t know how each town or group of people is going to be. I have literally been every high school stereotype one can be which was a lot of fun because I got to play a lot of different roles, but challenging because I had no idea where the real me started and the stereotype of what I was playing began. I love that I have friends everywhere, all over the world, and always have someone to call in every place I go. I do however wish that I knew what it was like to grow up with a group of friends. To have a “place” that means something to me- to Nest somewhere. Whenever somebody asks me where I’m from, I’m not entirely sure how to answer them, which is always an awkward beginning to a conversation.
BB411~ How do you stay centered and motivated with life’s daily stresses that come up?
HJ~ I have a manifestation coach that keeps me in positivity mode. But I have my struggles and my issues like everyone, it’s a very difficult career and people look at me and ask for advice saying “how did you get to where you are?”. I am not even represented and don’t have a full agent, so everything I do I do on my own and it wears on me some days. I’m still trying to make it just as hard as everyone else in this town. I’m no more talented than anyone, more famous or able than anyone. I just know how to push myself and my work publicly. I have amazing friends that really keep me up.
BB411~ How do you stay fit and healthy?
HJ~ I do a lot of yoga and I’m always on the go. I drink alkaline water, stay away from processed sugar (for the most part) and try to eat as little dairy and meat products as possible. I guess you could call me a fair weather vegan! I love brie cheese and if you put any in front of me I will eat all of it. Other than that, I make a conscious effort to shop at my local farmers market and watch what chemicals are in my food.
BB411~ Describe your style?
HJ~ I always have had a hard time describing my style but my friends joke that its “Boho Ballerina.” I dress like I live at Free People, but somehow there is always a bit of ballet class in it. I love Free People, Mod Cloth and any boutique with a cute day dress. Give me that and a cute pair of ballet flats and I’m set. I try to keep my outfits as simple as possible, never too much layering and never too much jewelry. Cute, classy and clean; lots of designs that flow.
BB411~ Top 3 things every woman should have in her wardrobe?
HJ~ A black night purse, tan heels, and a silk button down shirt.
BB411~ Bare feet, socks, sneakers or stilettos?
HJ~ Stilettoes…. but only in public. Put those socks on as soon as you can get those stilettos off your feet!
BB411~ What does the word “beauty” mean to you?
HJ~ A hashtag that I use for promoting “Miss Glennside.” ….I’m half joking. Beauty comes in a million different shapes and sizes, and I don’t just mean body. I have met beautiful people physically, who I just did not think were attractive because of their personalities. I’ve also met people who would not be considered “beautiful” in magazine land, who are some of the most beautiful people I know. I mean Stunning. I don’t think that beauty really has to do with what you look like all the time. If you can own yourself and have a certain kind of confidence, your beauty will radiate. Just because one person or culture has one ideal of what “beauty” is, doesn’t mean it’s the same for the whole world. I suggest taking a look at those buzz feed videos and articles that show you how different countries view beauty. The results might shock you.
BB411~ What inspires you personally and professionally?
HJ~ Knowing that I am the only one who is going to make this happen. If I don’t, nobody else will, so it’s up to me to keep on pushing.
BB411~ Are you involved in any charities that are close to your heart?
HJ~ I have been involved with “The Young Story Tellers.” I donate to Planned Parenthood (because I believe every woman should have healthcare) and I really like Children International. I try to help out as much as I can when it comes to mentoring women in being the best version of themselves they can be.
BB411~ What does it mean to you to give back?
HJ~ I’ve worked and fought incredibly hard to be able to continue to do what I’m doing. Part of that fight is inspiring others to do the same. Giving back, to me, is taking the time to reach others, however medium that may be and helping them learn and develop how they can reach their full potential.
BB411~ What is your skin care regime?
HJ~ I wipe my makeup off with Target brand face wipes and use whatever that crazy stuff my dermatologist makes. It doesn’t have a name, I have no idea what she calls it, I call it “skin crack.” I use that.
BB411~ What are your go to hair products?
HJ~ I know you aren’t going to believe me, but I have ethnic hair. I don’t know where or how I got it, but my hair puts new meaning to the word “jewfro.” The only women who know how to do my hair are those that are mixed race or of African American decent, and thank god for them! I get a karetin treatment in my hair every other month just to make it manageable, and even then it is still curlier than most (if not all) white girls. I usually dry it with a blow dryer and whatever protector spray I can find, then go through it with a curling iron so I can shape the curls I already have, and decrease frizz (just like how most girls with straight hair go through their hair with a straightening iron). I spray it to stay. I do try to go for any product that is sulfate free. Numa products are great, and so are Agave. These two are my favorites. Curl Deva is pretty awesome too.
BB411~ #1 beauty product you could not live without?
HJ~ Setting powder and my Nars blush 20.
BB411~ What are your thoughts on companies testing on animals? Which cruelty free companies do you support or are on your top pick list?
HJ~ Cruelty free all the way! We do not need to test on animals to ensure good products. There are other ways to test…I know Burt’s Bees is cruelty free and I love their lotions and lip balm. Nars takes the cake though for my all time favorite cruelty free company.
BB411~ Do any certain scents remind you of your childhood?
HJ~ Pine. My elementary school was surrounded on every corner by pine trees. I get real nostalgic around Christmas time, even though I’m Jewish.
BB411~ What is your favorite fragrance?
HJ~ My Michael Kors or course.
BB411~ 3 words that best describe you?
HJ~ Relentless, Driven and Quirky
BB411~ Fun fact that your fans may not know about you?
HJ~ I have a big Weiner! – Dog. Her name is Sausage. She is the love of my life.
BB411~ If you could tell your younger self something you have learned and know now what would it be?
HJ~ Ignore them. Don’t take anything they have to say seriously. Have fun!
BB411~ Favorite quote?

HJ~ Sushi, and chocolate…. but not together.
BB411~ Favorite color?
HJ~ It switches between red and whatever mood I’m in.
BB411~ What are the key points to being a good role model?
HJ~ Letting yourself be open and understanding of other peoples experiences and frustrations without judgement, offering help and guidance when needed, giving those that you are helping permission to fail and try again, being open and available.
BB411~ #1 thing you want to cross off your bucket list?
HJ~ I want to get lost in a foreign country on the most epic and exciting adventure!
BB411~ Describe your perfect day (when you have down time)?
HJ~ An Epic and exciting adventure! Or drinking tea, breaking down a script, and watching movies…. followed by an epic and exciting adventure.
BB411~ What has been your biggest Aha Moment so far in life?
HJ~ I’ve had so many lately. It is entirely up to you to live the life that you want to live, nobody else. It is nobody’s fault if you do not like where you are at. It is up to you to change it. As hard as it may be to take responsibility, there is always a way to change your life and your circumstance if you do not like where you are.
BB411~ What advice would you give entrepreneurs starting out that are following their dreams?
HJ~ You will fail. and you will fail again, but only if you continue to fail can you succeed. Don’t be afraid to take a step back and try a new strategy. Just remember that it It took Thomas Edison over 1,000 attempts before he created the lightbulb. The Beatles were told that they had a boring sound and would never make a successful album. Michael Jordan was benched on his high school basketball team, and Marilyn Monroe was dropped from multiple studios before making it big. DO NOT give up.
BB411~ Where do you see yourself in 1 year, 5 years and 10 years?
HJ~ Doing exactly what I’m doing now only at a higher level, with more money, and more consistency.
BB411~ When I say the words #lovethis, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
HJ~ When I was at theater camp, there was a camp wide inside joke similar to Paris Hilton’s “That’s Hot” only our phrase was “Loves it” #Lovethis reminds me of that. It’s a cute pop way to say that something is awesome.
